Health Insurance Don't Be Fooled Into Thinking You Can Not Afford It

Health Insurance - Don't Be Fooled Into Thinking You Can Not Afford It
By Tyson J Stevenson

This modern world we live in is best described as a world of uncertainty. You never know if this is the day when you will total your car, or take a dive down the stairs and fracture a leg, or worse. It's a real smart idea to be prepared for such certainties. Although we don't think these will happen to us on a regular basis, it's wise to have a back-up plan just in case the worst does happen. Definitely, we should all have some form of health insurance. The key of course, is finding that affordable health insurance that will give you the peace of mind you need, while not depleting your bank account to much.

When we think of health insurance, many of us don't believe we will ever need it. We insure ourselves for a variety of reasons; because we have a family, you never know when a child will get sick. We usually hope we never are faced with a stay in the hospital

However, it can happen, and when it does, it will likely come out of nowhere. This is where affordable health insurance is so helpful. We absolutely need that security when the occasion arises.

Do you have any idea what three days in the hospital will cost you?

Most people are somewhat clueless about such costs, but it can really set you back. Especially when we're young, we rarely take the time to find affordable health insurance. I look back when I was in university, and I could not have cared less that had the least expensive rates. Such security was not in my thinking, I wasn't interested in health insurance at all. Why should I be? I was only 20 years old, footloose & fancy free. This is a common error made by way to many of us.

However, the cold, hard truth is that it will most likely happen to you, and you'd better be prepared with some kind of health insurance.

Take a true life story; a close friend of mine in college was abruptly hospitalized. She didn't know what was wrong with her, but she was certainly ill, & it happened fast! After the doctor examined her, she was diagnosed with meningitis. Yikes! You guessed it, she didn't have health insurance, & sadly this ended up costing her over ten thousand dollars by the time she was released.

No matter if you're young or old; it is always a smart idea to check into health insurance. The best part is, you can locate an affordable health insurance plan right from your home, that' right, online. There are dozens of sites that can assist you in your search.

Believe me. There is an affordable health insurance plan that's just right for you. Don't worry about having to spend a small fortune. If you're already healthy, the chances are that your payments will be quite inexpensive. One thing for absolute sure, if you suddenly need health insurance, youll be thanking God that you were prudent enough to have invested in a plan. Initiate your search for an affordable health insurance plan today.

It's never too early, & you don't want to be too late.

How to Request a Troy Health Insurance Quote

How to Request a Troy Health Insurance Quote
By Ashton Skylar

In the United States, a fairly large number of individuals have health insurance. Many of those individuals are supplied with health insurance that is provided by their employers. Unfortunately, not all employers are able to offer health insurance to their employees. If you are currently employed and health insurance is not available to you, you may want to consider obtaining it yourself.

When it comes to purchasing your own health insurance, there are many individuals who dont even know why they should bother. Many assume they are safe to go without it because they have in the past. While you may not always need a trip to the doctor or dentist, you never know. That is why health insurance is so important, because your health is something that is unpredictable.

For many, the only problem with health insurance is the cost of it. There are many individuals who would like to purchase health insurance for themselves or their families, but not everyone is able to. Despite what you and many others believe, you may be able to find affordable health insurance. While affordable health insurance may be difficult to find, it is possible. In reality, all it takes is a little bit of time and research.

The first step in finding affordable health insurance it is familiarize yourself with a number of different health insurance companies. If you live in or around the Troy area, you will want to examine local health insurance companies or other companies that service the Troy area. This can easily be done by using your local phone book or the internet. Once you have found, at least, one health insurance company to examine, you will want to request a Troy health insurance quote.

When it comes to requesting a free Troy health insurance quote, you will likely see that you have a number of different options. These options may include mail in quote forms, online quote forms, or over-the-phone quote requests. The way in which you are required to request a Troy health insurance quote will all depend on the company that you are examining.

If you are not only looking to request a Troy health insurance quote, but you are also looking for other insurance information, you may want to consider speaking directly to a health insurance company representative. Whether you searched for a Troy health insurance company by using your local phone book or the internet, you should have been provided with a phone number. By calling this number you can not only request a health insurance quote, but you can also ask any other questions that you may have.

Online insurance quote requests are quickly becoming the most preferred way to request a Troy health insurance quote. This is because online request forms can be completed in a matter of minutes and they often do not require speaking to a company representative. The only downside to requesting a health insurance quote online is that you must have the internet. If you do not have access to the internet or if you dont have time for a phone conversation, you should be able to request a mail in form.

Regardless of whether or not you intend to purchase health insurance, you are still advised to request a free quote. Most quote requests will only take a few minutes and they are free, so why not at least give it a try? In fact, you may be surprised with what you see.

A Helpful Introduction to Managed Health Care Plans That Can Help Save You Time And Money

A Helpful Introduction to Managed Health Care Plans That Can Help Save You Time And Money
By Tim Gorman

Today in the United States, Managed Care Plans have become the most popular form of health care coverage. Managed Care Plans are very different from Indemnity Plans. Under an Indemnity Plan, a policy holder can seek medical attention whenever and wherever it is essential. With a Managed Care Plan, a policy holder has many limitations and restrictions.

Managed care plans have become so common because these plans are what most employers offer to their employees. Employers bear the cost of their employees' medical coverage. For employers, medical benefits to the employers happen to be their biggest expense. Thus, employers tend to opt for the most economical of health plans to provide their employees. Managed care plans are the most economical type of health insurance plan for employers.

It is a fact that medical expenses can be controlled if access to health treatments and services is controlled. Managed care plans uphold this truth, which is beneficial for companies offering medical benefits to employees. However, if viewed from a patient's perspective, if one is in need of a treatment that goes beyond the basic preventive care, availing of such a treatment can become difficult.

Managed care plans categories are as follows: a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO); and a Point of Service (POS). HMOs and PPOs are the most popular. A brief about the features of each is given below:

A Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan is more economical than a PPO and offers coverage for preventive care. If you are an HMO participant, you pay a monthly premium and very minor co-payment whenever you visit a doctor. The HMO network has many medical care providers. You have to choose from these medical care providers. The medical care providers have an agreement with the insurance company to offer medical services at already negotiated and reduced rates. You must select a Primary Care Physician (PCP), who will always be the first to examine you each time you have a medical condition. Your PCP will give a referral if you need to see a specialist for your condition.

As an HMO participant, you can only choose a PCP from your HMO's approved list of medical care providers. It's possible that your preferred doctor won't be on that list. The costs of a medical care provider who is not in your HMOs network won't be covered by the HMO. Also, in most cases the HMO network is small in size, so getting appointment with a PCP can be difficult.

A Preferred Provider Organization or PPO is very much like an HMO. The only difference is that with a PPO plan, you don't need to be examined by a PCP first. Although not required, you are advised to select a medical care provider from the PPO's approved list. If you should ever need to go to a specialist, you don't need to have a referral. If you visit a medical care provider outside your PPO's network, the co-payment is higher and the PPO part of medical care will be less.

PPOs do offer more amount of freedom but the costs involved are higher. These costs can be exceptionally high when you seek the services of a medical care provider outside the network of PPO.

A POS managed care plan is mix of HMO and PPO. It offers more freedom to choose a medical care provider and has lower costs. You can choose a PCP, but it is difficult to get a referral to a specialist. If you stick to the network, the paperwork is negligible and your co-payment amounts will also be at aminimum. A POS plan has no deductibles. This might make a POS plan appear lucrative, but POS plans are not very popular.

You have do a thorough research and analysis regarding which managed care plan to choose. The plan should satisfy your needs. The coverage provisions and additional costs differ significantly from plan to plan, so do invest time and put effort and clarify your doubts as soon as possible.

Health Insurance Why It's The Most Important

Health Insurance - Why It's The Most Important
By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Some forms of insurance are mandatory in certain places. People get them in spite of what they really think of them. Health insurance might be mandatory for most people. However, I'll show you why if all you can do is have only one insurance policy, you should make it an extensive health insurance policy...

Let's take out some time to rate things according to their real importance. For the purpose of this write-up I'll pick a few things and ask you to select the most important...

Your car
Your home
Your family
Your health
Your estate

Just these five will do. Which do you think is the most important. Remember, each one of these is very important. If you search your heart very well you'll discover you can really afford to live without owning a car (A lot of people do). Your estate is your wealth. However, life can go on without it. You can lose your estate and still get something better within a lifetime.

Your family is another very important one. Can you really do without your family? Maybe not. But think of this: What will you be to that family if your health is gone and you don't have the means to get it back -- A burden; a waste pipe. It can be painful to watch those loved ones in pains just because you didn't do something simple years ago. You will gladly give up your car, estate, house and anything else you have for your health or that of any member of your beloved family.

Yes, a car is important and should be insured. Yes, your home is too important not to be insured. Your estate represents a form of security for the future if nothing else. Yes, it should also be insured. But if you consider that life without good health could be tortuous, you'll understand that this is one insurance policy you shouldn't joke with.

If you have a family you really love. You should give them the best health insurance coverage you can afford. And, with a little research, you can get extensive coverage for less.

To get affordable health insurance, I'll encourage you to visit at least three health insurance quotes sites and get quotes there. This will take you 15 minutes at most for those three sites. That way, you'll be able to get good health insurance coverage at the best price. If your health and that of your loved ones is that important, make out 15 minutes now to get affordable health insurance quotes.

Here are my favorite affordable health insurance quotes sites (Get your health insurance quotes now)...

A Health Savings Account Primer

A Health Savings Account Primer
By Kurt Stammberger

Jenny Thomas heaved a sigh of relief. A month ago she checked into her local hospital to deliver her first child, but unanticipated complications necessitated an emergency surgery. Fortunately both she and the baby were fine. But if it hadnt been for her familys health savings account (HSA), she could have ended up owing the hospital tens of thousands of dollars.

An HSA is smart savings plan that you use for unanticipated medical expenses. Usually, money that you sock away into the plan comes out of your paycheck before payroll taxes are computed, so that you maximize your savings rate. Furthermore, any income that the HAS plan itself generates (such as from interest or investment appreciation) is also tax free, so it grows fast. Some employers even contribute extra matching cash to the plan to encourage you to save.

In most parts of the country, to be eligible for an HSA you also need to hold a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). An HDHP is a plan where the deductible that is the amount that you pay out of pocket, before the insurance kicks in is somewhat higher that what you might have seen before: usually in the neighborhood of $2000 to $3000. The big idea behind the HSA/HDHP combo is that the premiums on the high-deductible plan are so much lower that even though you pay the first couple of thousand out-of-pocket actually out of your HSA you save money in the long run over a traditional plan.

Hundreds of banks, credit unions and insurance companies offer HSAs, and its easy to sign up. Once youre enrolled, you can use the money in the account for most any approved medical, dental, vision or disability health care or expense.

HSAs differ from one another mostly in the ways they grow. Some HSAs grow like traditional savings accounts, with interest compounding daily. Other HSAs let you be more aggressive and pick money market funds, mutual funds or other investment vehicles so that you can maximize the growth of the account. Its up to you, and you should make sure you understand the investment choices available to you before you select your HSA institution.

After you have opened an HSA, managing the account is pretty easy. You setup automatic deductions from your paycheck, usually totalling an annual amount less than your HDHP deductible. You then invest your accumulating HSA funds in interst-bearing accounts, stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds, depending on the choices available to you at your HSA institution. Returns on these investments are tax-free, so they compound fast! If, in some year, your dont use the cash, it automatically gets carried over to the next year. So in this way HSAs are different from Flexible Spending Accounts which typically follow a use it or lose it approach.

Why Health Insurance Is Important To Young Individuals In Texas

Why Health Insurance Is Important To Young Individuals In Texas
By Patt Carpenter

Young individuals in Dallas, Houston and throughout Texas are a pretty healthy group in general, but going without health insurance interferes with their access to the health care system, introduces barriers to care when its needed, and leaves young individuals and their families at risk for high out-of-pocket costs in the face of severe illness or injury.

With that said, 19th birthdays seem to be a crucial milestone in most Americans health insurance coverage. Both public and private insurance plans treat this age as a turning point for coverage decisions. In Texas, young adults who are not full-time students lose their status as an eligible dependent after 19. A full-time student remains an eligible dependent in Texas until age 25.

Further, Texas health insurance regulation states that most private health insurance plans may not condition coverage for a child younger than 25 years of age on the child's being enrolled at an educational institution. This regulation however does not help every young adult. Self-insured large groups may be exempt from the regulation. And the parents may be simply unable to continue paying a young adults premiums.

When young adults lose coverage under their parents plans, regardless of age, their ties with primary care physicians may be cut just when they should be forming stronger links to the health care system and taking responsibility for their own care.

These are just a few reasons coverage is so important for young adults:o Fourteen percent of adults ages 18 to 29 are obese. Since the 1990s, obesity has increased by 70 percent in this age group the fastest rate of increase among all adults.o There are 3.5 million pregnancies each year among the 21 million women ages 19 to 29.o Injury-related visits to emergency rooms are far more common among young adults than they are among children or older adults.

A recent health insurance survey shows that individuals who are uninsured or have less-than-adequate health insurance have their access to the health care system decreased. More than half of young adults, ages 19 to 29, who either were uninsured for the entire year or had a time without coverage said that they had gone without needed health care because of cost. Delinquent care included failing to fill a prescription, not seeing a doctor or specialist when sick, or skipping a recommended medical test, treatment, or follow-up visit.

In addition, uninsured young adults are far less likely than those with coverage to have a regular doctor. Only one-third of uninsured young adults, ages 19 to 29, had a regular doctor, compared with 81 percent of those who were insured all year. Uninsured female young adults had regular doctors at about half the rate of young women who were insured all year. Male young adults who were uninsured had the most fragile link to the health care system; just 21 percent had a regular doctor compared with 75 percent of male young adults who were insured all year.

Many young adults also have problems paying medical bills or are paying off medical debt over time. More than one-third of all young adults, both insured and uninsured, said that they had experienced problems with medical bills: having trouble making payments, being contacted by a collection agency because of inability to pay bills, significantly changing their way of life in order to pay medical bills, or paying off medical debt over time. Uninsured young individuals were the most burdened with medical bills and debt, with almost half reporting at least one problem.

But contrary to popular belief, young individuals seem to value the protection that health insurance coverage offers. The same survey also found that nearly three-quarters of employed young adults accept health insurance coverage when its offered, only slightly less than the acceptance rate of workers age 30 or older.

In most cases they are not required to cover any of the expenses associated with providing health insurance for an employees dependants.

One of the best benefits a group health insurance broker can provide assistance to a company with is the proper administration of their health insurance policy. Generally speaking it normally takes about a week for a health insurance provider to review any group health care plans submitted by a company hoping to obtain health insurance for it's workers.
